Analysts stated that global equity markets are following a negative trend led by profit-taking in technology stocks, noting that investors are now focused on the presentation by US Federal Reserve (Fed) Chair Jerome Powell to Congress today, as well as the ADP private sector employment data to be released in the country.

Meanwhile, the Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey (TCMB) took additional tightening steps yesterday to support its tight monetary policy stance.

The TCMB announced that within the scope of the securities maintenance facility based on credit growth, it has been decided to reduce the monthly growth limit for Turkish Lira commercial loans from 2.5 percent to 2 percent, to lower the monthly growth limit for consumer loans from 3 percent to 2 percent, and to maintain the 2 percent limit for vehicle loans.

In its announcement, the TCMB stated, "In addition to the securities maintenance facility, work is ongoing regarding the establishment of reserve requirements based on credit growth. Furthermore, additional steps to strengthen the monetary transmission mechanism are being worked on."

On the other hand, international credit rating agency Fitch Ratings reported that Turkish Islamic banking is expected to continue growing above the sector average in 2024, albeit at a slower pace compared to previous years.

Additionally, the Turkey assessment report from Fitch Ratings, which is expected to be released after markets close on Friday, remains in the focus of investors.
