Stock market opens lower (September 11, 2024)

At the opening, the BIST 100 index fell by 14.04 points and 0.15 percent compared to the previous close, dropping to 9,610.01 points.

The banking index lost 0.32 percent and the holding index lost 0.22 percent. Among the sector indices, the metal main industry index was the top gainer with 0.28 percent, while the securities investment trust index was the biggest decliner with 0.67 percent.

The BIST 100 index at Borsa Istanbul, which followed a downward trend yesterday, completed the day with a 0.78 percent loss at 9,624.04 points.

Global markets are following a negative course due to uncertainties regarding the magnitude of the interest rate cut expected from the US Federal Reserve (Fed) next week, ahead of the inflation data to be announced in the US today.

Analysts stated that retail sales data domestically and inflation data in the US will be monitored today, noting that from a technical perspective, the 9,500 and 9,400 point levels are support, while the 9,750 and 9,900 levels are resistance for the BIST 100 index.
