Stock market opens with a decline

The BIST 100 index at Borsa Istanbul opened the day with a 0.53 percent decline at 7,854.17 points.

At the opening, the BIST 100 index fell by 41.79 points and 0.53 percent compared to the previous close, dropping to 7,854.17 points.

The banking index recorded a decrease of 0.99 percent, and the holding index fell by 0.64 percent. Among sector indices, the sports sector was the top gainer with 0.68 percent, while the banking sector saw the largest decline.

Yesterday, the BIST 100 index at Borsa Istanbul followed a buying-weighted trend and closed the day with a 0.28 percent gain at 7,895.96 points.

Analysts stated that global equity markets are following a mixed trend due to inflation data in the US coming in higher than expected yesterday and rising geopolitical risks in the Middle East. They noted that in addition to a busy data agenda today, investors are focused on the Turkey assessment report expected to be released by international credit rating agency Moody's after the markets close this evening.
