Stock market opens with gains

At the opening, the BIST 100 index rose by 38.43 points, or 0.53 percent, compared to the previous close, reaching 7,303.30 points.

The banking index gained 0.58 percent, and the holding index rose by 0.67 percent. Among sector indices, the securities investment trust sector was the top gainer with 1.02 percent, while the sports sector saw the largest decline with 1.18 percent.

Yesterday, following a sell-heavy trend, the BIST 100 index at Borsa Istanbul closed the day at 7,264.87 points, down 3.87 percent.

Analysts stated that global equity markets are searching for direction due to the Christmas holiday, noting that trading volumes remain at quite low levels.

Expressing that trading volumes are expected to remain low throughout the week due to the Christmas holiday, analysts noted that potential price fluctuations could occur within wider ranges due to thin market conditions.

Analysts noted that today's data to be monitored includes the real sector confidence index and manufacturing industry capacity utilization rate domestically, and the Chicago national activity index, housing price index, and Dallas Fed manufacturing index in the US, adding that from a technical perspective, 7,200 points serve as support and 7,400 points as resistance for the BIST 100 index.
