Striking gold forecast from JPMorgan: Historic levels on the agenda
Global financial giant JPMorgan has shared a forecast that the price of an ounce of gold could climb above 8,000 dollars in the coming years. This prediction, which comes at a time when records are being broken one after another in the market, has drawn the attention of investors.
The rapid upward momentum in gold prices shows no signs of stopping. At the beginning of 2026, gold, which was finding buyers at the level of 4,341 dollars per ounce, saw 5,302 dollars in a short time, experiencing an increase of 22 percent. With this increase, gold moved above the 5,000-dollar threshold for the first time in its history.
In a new assessment made on Thursday, JPMorgan's senior market strategist Nikolaos Panigirtzoglou predicted that gold could rise to the 8,000 to 8,500 dollar band within a few years. Panigirtzoglou attributed the main reason for this expectation to the changing attitudes of individual investors in the market.
According to experts, along with the recent fluctuations in US stock markets, individual investors have begun to move away from classic bonds and fixed-income assets and turn more toward gold. With the losses experienced in both stocks and bond markets in 2022, a serious transformation has taken place in the structure of portfolios. JPMorgan officials pointed out that, as a result, the validity of traditional 60/40 portfolio compositions has diminished.
It is stated that interest in bonds has weakened following the aggressive interest rate moves of the US Federal Reserve (Fed), while gold has reinforced its feature as a hedge and safe haven for investors. JPMorgan emphasizes that gold has become a new center in its investors' risk-avoidance strategies.
