Tax record-holders list announced 'completely empty': Only 21 names revealed

The Revenue Administration (GİB) has shared data regarding the 2024 income tax declarations. According to the data, Baykar Chairman of the Board Selçuk Bayraktar topped the list, paying 2 billion 767 million 587 thousand 718 Turkish Lira in income tax.

Baykar General Manager Lütfü Haluk Bayraktar ranked second, while Koç Holding Honorary Chairman Mustafa Rahmi Koç took fourth place. Other notable names include Erman Ilıcak (10th place, 372 million TL) and Mehmet Ömer Koç (12th place, 356 million TL).

5 MILLION 132 THOUSAND 895 TAXPAYERS FILED DECLARATIONS

According to GİB data, 5 million 132 thousand 895 taxpayers across Turkey filed income tax declarations for 2024, reporting a total tax base of 1 trillion 407 billion 889 million TL. Based on this tax base, 418 billion 465 million TL in income tax was accrued.

MOST RECORD-HOLDERS' IDENTITIES ARE HIDDEN

Most of those who declared the highest income tax for the 2024 taxation period chose to keep their identities confidential. The taxpayers in 3rd, 5th, 6th, 7th, 8th, and 9th places, along with a total of 79 individuals, did not want their names disclosed.

In contrast, only 21 people shared their names to appear in the top 100 of the list.

'EMPTY LIST'

Journalist Bahadır Özgür criticized the released list on his social media account with the following remarks:

“The 100 people who paid the most income tax in 2024 have been announced. Actually, they couldn't be announced! Only 21 people allowed their names to be disclosed. The list was announced completely empty.”
