Tea is exported from Rize to 31 countries
Tea exports from Rize in the January-November period increased by 45 percent, reaching 9 million 614 thousand 514 dollars.
Şaban Turgut, Vice Chairman of the Eastern Black Sea Exporters Association and Chairman of the Tea Sector Committee, stated that 41 percent of Turkey's 11-month tea exports were carried out from Rize.
Stating that 3 thousand 119 tons of tea were exported from the city in the January-November period, Turgut reported that 9 million 614 thousand 514 dollars in revenue was generated from these exports.
Turgut stated that tea is sold from Rize to 31 countries and spoke as follows:
"Belgium, Germany, and the USA were the top 3 countries for exports. Tea worth 8 million 48 thousand 28 dollars was sold to Belgium, 271 thousand 34 dollars to Germany, and 184 thousand 188 dollars to the USA. Unlike the same period last year, tea was also exported during this period to Poland, Congo, the United Kingdom, Turkmenistan, Malaysia, Belarus, Czechia, and Switzerland."
Pointing out that 6 million 630 thousand 515 dollars in revenue was generated from 2 thousand 776 tons of tea exports from Rize in the same period last year, Turgut drew attention to the fact that exports increased by 12 percent in volume and 45 percent in revenue accordingly.
