The crisis has become fully apparent! 1 million people under legal proceedings due to debt

Economic difficulties in Turkey are deepening day by day. Citizens who cannot make ends meet with their salaries and struggle to pay their rent and bills are turning to credit cards to ease their financial burdens. However, as credit card spending increases, citizens who struggle to pay their debts are falling under legal proceedings.

Economist İnan Mutlu revealed the situation with striking data in a post on his social media account. Mutlu stated, "In the last year, an average of 258 thousand people per month have fallen under legal proceedings by banks because they could not pay their credit card or consumer loan debts."

According to the data shared by Mutlu:

The number of people who fell under legal proceedings in April was 263 thousand.

In the first four months of 2025, a total of 1 million 88 thousand people faced legal processes because they could not pay their debts.
