The date has been set: Water discount coming in Bursa

An important development is on the agenda for water subscribers living in Bursa. The Bursa Metropolitan Municipality administration has begun preparations to implement a discount on water prices. In this context, the issue of lowering prices will be discussed at the BUSKİ General Assembly, which will convene on May 14.

It was stated that following the regulation in question and the completion of the necessary official processes, the decisions taken will be shared with the public. In the statement made by the Bursa Metropolitan Municipality, it was also emphasized that no price hikes have been applied to water since the new administration took office.

The prepared statement included the following information:

"We are continuing our efforts for a discount on water bills. As of May, new regulations will be shared with the public following the completion of the BUSKİ General Assembly and its official processes. Our goal is to provide our fellow citizens with quality, sustainable, and accessible services under the most accurate conditions. We present this for your information and thank you, our valued fellow citizens, for your support and understanding. In accordance with the decision taken by the BUSKİ General Assembly on July 4, 1994, water tariffs are updated every month based on the inflation rate. The difference reflected in the latest index reading is due to this routine update. Apart from this, no additional price increases have been applied to water prices as of April 2026."

In this statement, while it was pointed out that water prices are updated every month according to the inflation rate, it was stated that no extra price hike was implemented in April.

On the other hand, it was reported that following the recent heavy rainfall in Bursa, the occupancy rate of the dams meeting the city's water needs has approached 100 percent.
