The era of foreign vehicles in the public sector is coming to an end
The Ministry of Treasury and Finance has stated that public vehicle procurement will be limited exclusively to the Togg brand. This decision will ensure that Togg finds a wider range of use within the public sector.
Minister of Treasury and Finance Mehmet Şimşek has made an important announcement regarding vehicle usage and procurement in the public sector.
Following former Minister Nureddin Nebati's statement that public vehicles would be replaced with domestic automobiles, new regulations were a subject of curiosity.
Şimşek responded to expectations on this matter and announced that the public savings circular has been updated.
According to the statement, only the domestic automobile TOGG will be purchased for the public sector from now on.
This means that the public sector will move away from using foreign brand vehicles such as Audi and Mercedes and turn entirely to the domestic brand TOGG.
Minister Şimşek stated that with this move, they aim to both contribute to the national economy and achieve savings.
According to Şimşek, existing publicly owned vehicles will be sold, and the revenue generated will be used to purchase TOGG vehicles.
Currently, according to 2019 data, there are more than 115 thousand automobiles in the public sector. Savings will be achieved in the short term through these vehicles, which will be sold in stages.
The TOGG transformation in the public sector is expected to be completed within 10-15 years.
