Turkey presents both a positive and noteworthy picture when compared to Europe in the electric vehicle market. According to data from the Automotive Distributors and Mobility Association (ODMD), electric vehicle sales in Turkey were recorded at 54,273 units in the January-November 2023 period. 

Comparison with European Countries, Led by Norway

While 83.49% of car sales in Norway consist of electric models, the European average is determined to be 17.78%. This rate is seen to be 6.14% for Turkey. In terms of market share, Turkey is placed 21st in Europe.

Sales Volume and Market Potential

However, with 54,273 sales in terms of volume, Turkey ranks 9th in Europe. This situation shows that Turkey has significant potential in terms of population. The fact that countries with smaller populations like Norway have lower sales figures than Turkey does not mean these countries are wealthier than Turkey, as Turkey represents a larger market in terms of population.
