The Mourinho effect on Fenerbahçe shares!
Following Fenerbahçe Club's official signing of world-renowned Portuguese manager Jose Mourinho, Fenerbahçe shares traded on Borsa Istanbul are hitting the ceiling price at 136.80 liras.
The Yellow-Navies' new Portuguese manager, who took charge of the team following the signing ceremony at Ülker Stadium on Sunday, will serve as Fenerbahçe's 78th head coach.
Mourinho stands out as the only manager to have won trophies in all three major European competitions.
While the buying-heavy trend in Fenerbahçe shares appears to have influenced other sports stocks as well, Galatasaray rose by 4.9 percent, Beşiktaş by 3.9 percent, and Trabzonspor by 4.4 percent. Fenerbahçe's share price gained 9.97 percent, trading at its ceiling price of 136.80 liras.
Analysts stated that sporting success and squad quality are financially significant, noting that teams have the opportunity to generate substantial revenue by competing in European cups.
Pointing out that Mourinho is highly recognized on the international stage and that this could be effective in promoting the Turkish Süper Lig abroad, analysts reported that both the potential for improved broadcasting revenues for clubs and the likelihood of success in European cups are supporting the current trend on the stock market.
