The price hike champion of July in Istanbul has been announced! Here are the items with the highest and lowest price changes

In Istanbul, cherries saw the highest price increase in July at 29.49 percent. Watermelon was the product with the largest price decrease, falling by 49.47 percent.

The Istanbul Chamber of Commerce (ITO) has announced the products in Istanbul that saw the highest increases and decreases in retail prices in July, along with their respective rates.

Compared to the previous month, out of 336 main products in the index, 186 products saw price increases, while 38 products saw price decreases.

CHERRY PRICES INCREASED BY 29.49 PERCENT IN JULY

In July 2025, cherries, which are in the food and non-alcoholic beverages expenditure group, were the product with the highest price increase at 29.49 percent.

Some of the other products that experienced price increases include natural gas in the housing expenditure group at 28.69 percent, strawberries in the food and non-alcoholic beverages group at 28.46 percent, airline tickets in the transportation expenditure group at 27.96 percent, lemons in the food and non-alcoholic beverages group at 25.10 percent, surgery fees in the health expenditure group at 20 percent, specialist doctor examination fees in the health expenditure group at 20 percent, literary books in the recreation and culture expenditure group at 19.86 percent, tomatoes in the food and non-alcoholic beverages group at 19.77 percent, pointed peppers at 19.48 percent, Charleston peppers at 18.97 percent, pears at 17.25 percent, canned peas at 14.57 percent, pickles at 12.68 percent, and apricots at 10.40 percent.

WATERMELON PRICES FELL BY 49.47 PERCENT IN JULY

In July 2025, watermelons, which are in the food and non-alcoholic beverages expenditure group, were the product with the largest price decrease, showing a decline of 49.47 percent. Some of the other products that saw price decreases include melons in the food and non-alcoholic beverages group at 40.51 percent, cucumbers at 17.65 percent, plums at 17.52 percent, zucchini at 14.93 percent, parsley at 10.15 percent, eggplant at 7.60 percent, green beans at 7.51 percent, carrots at 5.79 percent, green onions at 4.96 percent, dry onions at 4.71 percent, potatoes at 3.84 percent, garlic at 3.10 percent, bananas at 3.03 percent, eggs at 2.51 percent, and bell peppers at 2.19 percent.
