The team that caused the biggest losses on the stock market has been identified

Shares of sports clubs traded on Borsa Istanbul experienced sharp declines in 2025. According to the compiled data, the sports index finished the year with a loss of 35.1 percent, while the sports company that caused the most damage to its investors was Beşiktaş Futbol Yatırımları Sanayi ve Ticaret AŞ with a value loss of 53.2 percent.

The clubs' increasing debt burden, weak financial statements, and unsustainable revenue structure caused the pressure on sports stocks to continue. This picture was felt significantly in the stock market performance of the major clubs in particular.

In 2025, while Beşiktaş shares caused a 53.2 percent loss for investors, shares of Trabzonspor Sportif Yatırım ve Futbol İşletmeciliği AŞ fell by 50.3 percent. While the loss in Galatasaray Sportif Sınai ve Ticari Yatırımları was 23.4 percent, Fenerbahçe Futbol AŞ shares lost 9.2 percent in value.

Beşiktaş, which fell out of the championship race early on the field, could not please its investors on the stock market either. While the black-and-white club could not win any trophies throughout 2025, the management, technical team, and players remained below expectations throughout the season.

The Fenerbahçe football team was also among the clubs that finished the year without a trophy. The yellow-navy blues had ended a 9-year longing by winning the Turkish Cup in 2023 under the management of Jorge Jesus. However, they could not add a new trophy to their museum in 2025, following 2024.

Galatasaray, which is at the top of the Süper Lig, struggled to reflect its sporting success on the stock market. Despite its strong performance in the league, the yellow-red club could not prevent the decline in its share value.

DECEMBER ALSO UPSET INVESTORS

The December performances of sports companies also followed a negative trend. During this period, the club that caused the most losses for its investors was Fenerbahçe with a 14.1 percent decline. Trabzonspor shares lost 10.1 percent, Galatasaray 8.7 percent, and Beşiktaş 5.2 percent in value.

GALATASARAY HAS THE HIGHEST MARKET VALUE

Among the four publicly traded sports companies, the club with the highest market value was Galatasaray. The yellow-reds closed the year with a market value of 15 billion 659 million 999 thousand 999 liras.

Galatasaray was followed by Fenerbahçe with 11 billion 525 million liras, Trabzonspor with 8 billion 25 million liras, and Beşiktaş with a market value of 7 billion 114 million 247 thousand 799 liras.
