The top-performing investment vehicle of the week has been announced
The performance of weekly investment vehicles has been released. This week, gold and the dollar brought smiles to investors with their gains.
Financial markets moved in different directions for investors over the past week. While the Borsa Istanbul BIST 100 index showed a decline on a weekly basis, foreign exchange and precious metals offered gains to investors.
The BIST 100 index closed the week at 13,934.06, a decrease of 1.74 percent. The lowest level of the week was 13,718.14, while the highest point reached was 14,532.67 points. While the services index fell by 3.08 percent, the industrial index by 2.60 percent, and the financial index by 1.17 percent, the technology index recorded an increase of 3.20 percent.
Gold prices finished the week with an increase. The price of a gram of 24-karat bullion gold rose by 1.33 percent to 7,111 TL. Similarly, the Republic gold coin increased by 1.32 percent, closing the week at 47,894 TL.
There were notable movements in the weekly foreign exchange markets. The selling price of the US dollar rose by a limited 0.07 percent to 43.77 TL. The Euro lost 0.62 percent in value, trading at 51.61 TL. While the British Pound traded at 59.64 TL last week, it fell by 0.97 percent this week to 59.06 TL. The Swiss Franc also closed the week down by 0.49 percent at 56.63 TL.
While developments in financial markets caught the attention of investors, the standout gains of the week were in gold and the dollar. A downward trend was prevalent in other major exchange rates.
