The week's winning investment vehicles: Stock market fell, foreign currency rose, gold refreshed its record

While Borsa İstanbul experienced a weekly decline, foreign currency and gold investors saw gains. The BIST 100 index fell by 0.68 percent, while gram gold rose by 2.73 percent, the dollar by 0.30 percent, and the euro by 0.86 percent.

Stocks traded on Borsa İstanbul lost an average of 0.68 percent in value on a weekly basis. On the other hand, there was an increase in foreign currency and gold prices. While the dollar/TL exchange rate gained 0.30 percent and the euro/TL gained 0.86 percent, gram gold recorded an increase of 2.73 percent.

The BIST 100 index tested the lowest level of 9,245.26 and the highest level of 9,492.29 points during the week. The index closed the week at 9,317.24 points, down 0.68 percent from its previous close.

In the Grand Bazaar, the gram selling price of 24-karat bullion gold rose by 2.73 percent to 4,068 liras. The selling price of Republic gold reached 27,506 liras with a 2.70 percent increase.

The selling price of quarter gold, which was 6,633 liras at the end of last week, rose by 2.74 percent this week to 6,815 liras.

There was also an upward movement in the foreign exchange market. The US dollar rose by 0.30 percent to 38.1770 liras, and the euro rose by 0.86 percent to 43.6300 liras.

Investment funds closed the week with a gain of 1.12 percent, and pension funds with a gain of 0.51 percent. Among the fund categories, "precious metals" funds provided the highest return with an increase of 6.11 percent.
