The world's most expensive shopping streets revealed: İstiklal Avenue makes the list
İstiklal Avenue maintained its 22nd place position on the list of the world's most expensive shopping streets in 2025. London's New Bond Street took the top spot on the list for the first time this year.
According to the "Main Streets Across the World 2025" report prepared by Cushman & Wakefield, retail rents worldwide increased by an average of 4.2 percent. London's New Bond Street earned the title of the world's most expensive shopping street for the first time, with annual rents reaching 20,482 euros per square meter. This street surpassed prestigious locations such as Milan's Via Montenapoleone and New York's Fifth Avenue.
The report examined streets linked to luxury sectors that command the highest rents globally. Following New Bond Street, Milan's Via Montenapoleone ranked second, and New York's Fifth Avenue ranked third. Hong Kong's Tsim Sha Tsui and Paris's Champs-Élysées are also among the other significant destinations in the top five.
While İstiklal Avenue maintained its 22nd place in the global rankings, it also placed 36th in the European rankings. Prime retail rents on the avenue remained stable at 245 dollars per square meter per month.
Luxury shopping streets are showing resilience despite economic uncertainties, outperforming general market trends. Globally, rents on these streets increased by an average of 4.2 percent, while a 7.9 percent increase was observed in the Americas. In Europe, strong performances in Budapest and London stood out.
London leads in rental growth in Europe. Key locations such as New Bond Street, Oxford Street, and Regent Street recorded double-digit increases. Budapest's Fashion Street displayed the region's most remarkable performance with a 33 percent increase.
