Third quarter unemployment figures announced
According to data released by TUIK, the unemployment rate in Turkey in the third quarter of this year decreased by 0.5 percentage points compared to the previous quarter, reaching 9.2 percent.
The Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK) has announced labor force statistics for the July-September period.
Accordingly, the seasonally adjusted number of unemployed persons aged 15 and over across Turkey decreased by 161 thousand people in the third quarter of this year compared to the previous quarter, falling to 3 million 218 thousand people.
The seasonally adjusted unemployment rate stood at 9.2 percent, marking a decrease of 0.5 percentage points. The unemployment rate in the third quarter decreased by 0.8 percentage points compared to the same period last year.
In the same period, the seasonally adjusted unemployment rate for the youth population, covering the 15-24 age group, decreased by 0.7 percentage points to 17.1 percent. In this age group, the unemployment rate was estimated at 14.2 percent for men and 22.4 percent for women.
On the other hand, revisions were made to data from previous periods.
