Total tax revenue collected by the state in the first month of 2024 has been shared

The taxes that entered the state's coffers in January 2024 have been announced. A notable increase of over 90 percent compared to last year was observed in the Special Consumption Tax (SCT) collected from motor vehicles.

When examining the state's revenue items in the first month of the new year, a significant increase was observed in the SCT collected from motor vehicles. Furthermore, increases of over 100 percent were seen in the SCT collected from natural gas and petroleum products, as well as from tobacco products.

The automotive sector in Turkey experienced the most successful year in its history. In 2023, an all-time high sales record was broken. The biggest winner of this situation was the state. This is because every new car sale was reflected in the state's coffers as SCT and VAT.

EBS Consulting, which tracks the performance of the automotive sector, shared the SCT amounts obtained from new car sales realized in 2024. Additionally, all tax revenues collected by the state in January 2024 have been disclosed. The vitality in the automotive sector continues to increase the state's revenues.

The report prepared by EBS Consulting based on data from the Ministry of Treasury and Finance shows that there is a large increase in the SCT collected from motor vehicles. The SCT amount, which was 15 billion TL in the same period last year, rose to 28.69 billion TL this year. This represents an increase of 90.87 percent.

The amount of SCT collected by the state showed an increase not only in the automotive sector but also in petroleum and natural gas products. The SCT collected from petroleum and natural gas increased by 292.35 percent, while the SCT collected from tobacco products increased by 112.17 percent. The state's VAT revenue in January 2024, at 108 billion TL, constituted the largest source of income.
