TÜDER President Levent Küçük: The decision will reflect positively on consumers in every sense

The Regulation on Amending the Price Tag Regulation, prepared by the Ministry of Trade, was published in the Official Gazette last week.

Accordingly, depending on the nature of the services and the way they are presented to the consumer, documents, signs, boards, and similar items regarding tariffs and price lists will be posted, attached, or placed in the workplace where the service is provided, and in places such as diners, restaurants, cafes, patisseries, and similar food and beverage service venues, they will be placed in front of the entrance door and on the tables where service is provided, in a way that can be easily seen and read by consumers.

With the regulation coming into effect as of January 1, it is aimed to inform consumers, protect their economic interests at the highest level, and prevent potential grievances by ensuring that consumers can see tariff and price lists before even entering food and beverage establishments and make choices by comparing prices.

"The decision will reflect positively on consumers in every sense"

TÜDER President Levent Küçük stated that they support the decision-makers in this area.

Küçük expressed that having price tariffs at the entrance doors and on the tables of diners, restaurants, cafes, patisseries, and similar food and beverage establishments will be beneficial in terms of protecting the economic interests of consumers and ensuring market competition.

Drawing attention to the importance of the regulation being enforceable, Küçük noted the following:

"It is a very positive decision, but from now on, inspections must be carried out by authorized units without interruption. Since this decision will ensure competition, we expect it to lead to a decrease in prices as well. Provided that the necessary inspections are carried out and no concessions are made in this regard, the decision will reflect positively on consumers in every sense.

I believe that with the necessary support from sector representatives and businesses, the successful results of the decision will increase. This will also make a significant contribution to tourism, as it will eliminate the risk of exorbitant prices and fraud that domestic and foreign tourists occasionally encounter and complain about, especially in Istanbul and other major cities and tourist regions."
