TÜİK announces: Industrial production decreased by 4.7 percent compared to last year
The contraction in industrial production that began in May continued to accelerate in June. Leading data shows a monthly contraction of 2.1 percent and an annual contraction of 4.7 percent in June.
According to data released by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK), industrial production in June decreased by 4.7 percent compared to the same month of the previous year.
When examining the sub-sectors of industry (with 2021=100 as the reference year), the mining and quarrying sector index increased by 8.6 percent in June 2024 compared to the same month of the previous year, the manufacturing sector index decreased by 6.9 percent, and the electricity, gas, steam, and air conditioning production and distribution sector index increased by 15.2 percent.
2 PERCENT DECREASE IN PRODUCTION
When compared to the previous month, a 2.1 percent decrease was observed in production in June.
When examining the sub-sectors of industry, the mining and quarrying sector index increased by 1.8 percent in June 2024 compared to the previous month, the manufacturing sector index decreased by 3.1 percent, and the electricity, gas, steam, and air conditioning production and distribution sector index increased by 7.8 percent.
