TÜİK announces November inflation

The Turkish Statistical Institute has announced the inflation figures for November.

According to TÜİK data, the change in the CPI in November was 3.28 percent compared to the previous month, 60.09 percent compared to December of the previous year, 61.98 percent compared to the same month of the previous year, and 53.40 percent based on twelve-month averages.

The main group that showed the lowest increase compared to the same month of the previous year was housing at 37.54 percent. In contrast, the main group with the highest increase compared to the same month of the previous year was restaurants and hotels at 92.86 percent.

Regarding main expenditure groups, the main group that showed the lowest increase in November compared to the previous month was clothing and footwear at -0.31 percent. In contrast, the main group with the highest increase in November compared to the previous month was housing at 11.17 percent.

D-PPI INCREASED BY 42.25 PERCENT ANNUALLY AND 2.81 PERCENT MONTHLY

The Domestic Producer Price Index (D-PPI) increased by 2.81 percent in November compared to the previous month, 42.59 percent compared to December of the previous year, 42.25 percent compared to the same month of the previous year, and 53.15 percent based on twelve-month averages.

Annual changes in the four sectors of industry were as follows: a 65.49 percent increase in mining and quarrying, a 54.11 percent increase in manufacturing, a 30.00 percent decrease in electricity, gas production and distribution, and a 70.23 percent increase in water supply.

Annual changes in main industrial groups were as follows: a 46.45 percent increase in intermediate goods, a 61.16 percent increase in durable consumer goods, a 68.11 percent increase in non-durable consumer goods, a 5.91 percent decrease in energy, and a 65.21 percent increase in capital goods.

MANUFACTURING INDEX OF THE FOUR MAIN INDUSTRIAL SECTORS INCREASED BY 2.26 PERCENT MONTHLY

Monthly changes in the four sectors of industry were as follows: a 2.68 percent increase in mining and quarrying, a 2.26 percent increase in manufacturing, a 10.99 percent increase in electricity, gas production and distribution, and a 1.91 percent increase in water supply.

Monthly changes in main industrial groups were as follows: a 2.50 percent increase in intermediate goods, a 2.49 percent increase in durable consumer goods, a 3.07 percent increase in non-durable consumer goods, a 3.46 percent increase in energy, and a 2.85 percent increase in capital goods.

Compared to the annual D-PPI, 5 sub-sectors showed lower changes, while 24 sub-sectors showed higher changes.

The only sub-sector that showed an annual decrease was electricity, gas, steam, and air conditioning at 30.00 percent. In contrast, basic pharmaceutical products and preparations at 93.70 percent, other mining and quarrying products at 84.05 percent, and beverages at 74.00 percent were the sub-sectors where indices increased the most.

ENAG ANNOUNCED 5.58 PERCENT

The ENAGrup Consumer Price Index (E-CPI) increased by 5.58 percent in November. The 12-month increase in the E-CPI was 129.27 percent.

According to TÜİK, the change in the consumer price index (CPI) in October 2023 was 3.43 percent compared to the previous month, 55.00 percent compared to December of the previous year, 61.36 percent compared to the same month of the previous year, and 54.26 percent based on twelve-month averages.
