TÜİK releases 3rd quarter household travel statistics: Millions of citizens could not travel
According to data from the Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK), 19 million 467 thousand people residing in Turkey went on trips in the 3rd quarter of 2023. According to the data, there was an increase in the number of trips.
The Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK) has released the 3rd Quarter Household Domestic Tourism statistics.
In the third quarter, which consists of July, August, and September, 19 million 467 thousand people residing in the country went on trips.
The total number of trips made by travelers within the country with one or more overnight stays increased by 1.7% compared to the same quarter of the previous year, reaching 23 million 780 thousand trips.
Travelers spent 113 billion 996 million 644 thousand TL.
WHERE DID THE EXPENDITURES GO?
When the distribution rates of expenditure types within total travel expenditures for this quarter are examined, food and beverage expenditures had the highest share at 31.7%, followed by transportation expenditures at 23.5%, and accommodation expenditures at 21.7%.
When the change rates of these expenditure types compared to the same period last year are examined, an increase of 79.9% was seen in food and beverage expenditures, 51.9% in transportation expenditures, and 158.7% in accommodation expenditures.
Trips made for the purpose of visiting relatives ranked first with 49.3%.
In terms of the purposes for traveling, "trips, entertainment, vacation" ranked second with 46%, and "health" ranked third with 2.3%.
