Turgut Torunoğulları: We are larger than the population and economy of many countries

TORUNOĞULLARI met with NGO representatives and business people at the hall of the Edelstaal Group International Simtronic company located in the city of Den Bosch. Turgut Torunoğulları, who also operates in the tourism sector, thanked everyone for the support given to him, saying, “During my previous terms as president of non-governmental organizations, we have done great work together with you. By working in unity and solidarity with business organizations and non-governmental organizations in Europe, we will identify our path to success and work together to be better. Both in the European countries where we live and in Turkey. We will bring our problems to the agenda and resolve them, as long as we act together.”

‘WE WILL LEAVE A MARK ON DTİK’

Calling out to business people in Europe, Torunoğulları urged Turkish business people living in Europe to become members of DTİK and said, “If you become a member, your opportunity to do business in every country and meet with business people will bring you wealth, and you will discover the richness of Turkish culture. DEİK has institutions in 152 countries and DTİK presidencies on 6 continents. At the general assembly meeting held by DEİK in Istanbul on September 16, presidents from 29 countries unanimously elected me as president. I thank them all. Together, we will carry out work in Europe and Turkey that will leave a mark on DTİK. We will explain the joint work and sharing of our business people. The world is now like a village. We must explain the richness of Turkish culture.”

‘WE ARE LARGER THAN THE POPULATION AND ECONOMY OF MANY COUNTRIES’

Noting that they will specifically explain business opportunities in Turkey and the global successes of Turkish entrepreneurs to foreign investors, Torunoğulları said, “As a company, we do business in Turkey with many foreign partners around the world, and we have succeeded in this over the years. We are determined to expand this by finding even more new partners. Let us not forget that tourism is Turkey’s third-largest power. Our citizens living abroad are the people who spend the most money in Turkey. We who live in Europe are larger than the population and economy of many countries in Europe. As a tourism professional, I believe we will have reached our goal when we host as many guests as our country’s population and increase our per capita income in tourism to over 1,100 Euros. DTİK is an institutional organization affiliated with the state; I would very much like our business associations and other non-governmental organizations in Europe to work together with DTİK. Let us not forget that organized small communities lead unorganized large communities.”
