Turkcell CEO Murat Erkan steps down

Murat Erkan, who has served as the General Manager of Turkcell since 2019, announced on his social media account that he has stepped down from his position.

Erkan's decision was reported to the Public Disclosure Platform (KAP) by the company. In his statement on social media, Erkan said:

“Leading Turkcell has always been a source of pride for me. Following my decision, I am leaving Turkcell, where I have spent 15 years and which I have felt like a second home due to the bonds we formed during this time. I have handed over the seat and title entrusted to me, but our strong bonds are never entrusted; they will continue forever.

We accomplished great things together and worked with pleasure. I would like to thank every single member of the Turkcell family. Since my first day at Turkcell Superonline, we have lived through an adventure I will never forget. I existed with you. Thank you very much for your support and trust in me. There is something I always say; the name Turkcell is just a sign, what is essential and gives it its soul is the people. Our story with these people who make Turkcell what it is does not end today. Tomorrow is a new day. While Turkcell adds new successes to its achievements, I will continue to be proud of our country's crown jewel company.”

WHO IS MURAT ERKAN?

A graduate of the Department of Electronics and Telecommunications Engineering at Yıldız Technical University, Murat Erkan began his professional career at Toshiba. Joining Turkcell as the General Manager of Superonline in June 2008, Erkan completed the Strategic Marketing Program at Harvard Business School in 2010. Erkan was appointed as the Executive Vice President of Sales at Turkcell in 2016 and as the General Manager of Turkcell in 2019.

During Erkan's tenure, both Superonline and Turkcell achieved many firsts. He led the teams at Turkcell during a period when high growth rates were achieved, Turkcell pioneered the technological transformation, and significant work was carried out regarding sustainability both domestically and internationally.
