Turkey takes the top spot in Europe for motorcycle sales
Motorcycle sales in Turkey broke all-time records in 2023, making it the country with the highest number of motorcycle sales in Europe.
According to data from the Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK), the number of motorcycles registered for traffic in 2023 increased by 130 percent compared to the previous year, reaching 957 thousand 292. When dealer stocks are also taken into account, this figure exceeds an average of 1 million units.
Factors such as rising transportation costs and the avoidance of public transport due to the pandemic have been influential in the increase in motorcycle sales in Turkey. Furthermore, the global rise in electric vehicle usage has also been reflected in the Turkish motorcycle market.
In 2023, the number of electric motorcycles and electric mopeds sold in Turkey increased by 239 percent compared to the previous year, reaching 173 thousand 301.
Industry representatives state that they expect motorcycle sales to remain high in 2024 as well.
