Turkey's 11-month sea snail exports exceeded 20.5 million dollars
Revenue generated from sea snail exports from Turkey in the January-November period increased by 33 percent compared to the same period last year, reaching 20 million 555 thousand 659 dollars.
Ahmet Hamdi Gürdoğan, Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Eastern Black Sea Exporters Association, told an AA reporter that 1,873 tons of sea snails were exported from Turkey in the first 11 months of the year.
Stating that 20 million 555 thousand 659 dollars in revenue was generated from said exports, Gürdoğan said, "In the same period last year, 15 million 478 thousand 635 dollars were earned in exchange for 1,836 tons. Accordingly, Turkey's 11-month sea snail exports increased by 2 percent in volume and 33 percent in revenue."
Noting that sea snails were sold to 10 countries from Turkey during this period, Gürdoğan continued as follows:
"The Republic of South Korea was the country to which the most sea snails were exported, with 10 million 507 thousand 780 dollars. This country was followed by the People's Republic of China with 3 million 339 thousand 944 dollars, and Spain with 2 million 710 thousand 11 dollars. Unlike last year, sea snails were also sold to Ukraine, Romania, Azerbaijan, and the TRNC during this period."
Pointing out that 12 million 205 thousand 298 dollars of the sea snail exports were realized from the Black Sea, Gürdoğan stated that exports were made from the region to 5 countries, primarily the Republic of South Korea.
Emphasizing that although sea snails are not consumed in the country, they are at the forefront with their exports, Gürdoğan added that it is important to provide the necessary support to exporters in order to further increase foreign sales.
