Turkish Airlines (THY) Media Relations stated in an announcement that it has provided data regarding the evaluation of the company's December 2023 traffic results and a comparison between 2022 and 2023.

Accordingly, the total number of passengers for THY increased by 10.1 percent compared to the same period in 2022, reaching 6.1 million, with an international load factor of 80 percent and a domestic load factor of 78 percent.

The number of international-to-international transfer passengers was 2.2 million in December 2022, while it increased by 19 percent to 2.6 million in the same period of 2023. Total available seat kilometers reached 16.6 billion in December 2022, and increased by 19.4 percent to 19.8 billion in the same period of 2023.

The volume of cargo and mail carried by THY was 137.9 thousand tons in December 2022, and this figure increased by 15.8 percent last month to be recorded as 159.7 thousand tons.

PASSENGER COUNT ROSE TO 83.4 MILLION IN 2023

THY increased the number of passengers carried in the January-December period of last year by 16.1 percent compared to 2022, reaching 83.4 million. This figure was recorded as the highest passenger count of all time.

The number of international-to-international transfer passengers was 23.4 million in the January-December 2022 period, while it increased by 27.1 percent to 29.8 million in the same period of 2023.

The total passenger load factor increased by 1.9 points compared to the same period in 2022, reaching 82.6 percent. While the international passenger load factor was at the 82.4 percent level, the domestic passenger load factor was 84.3 percent.

Total available seat kilometers was 201.8 billion in 2022, while this figure increased by 16.4 percent in 2023 to reach 234.8 billion.

The volume of cargo and mail carried was 1.68 million tons in 2022, and decreased by 1.2 percent in 2023 to 1.66 million. According to the released report, the number of aircraft in THY's fleet rose to 440.
