Turkish citizens break record in real estate purchases
The year 2025 witnessed a significant increase in real estate investments by Turkish citizens abroad, with total purchases reaching 2.7 billion dollars, the highest level of all time.
According to the latest balance of payments report from the Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey, Turkish investors broke a record in real estate purchases abroad in 2025. The total purchase amount for the year reached 2.7 billion dollars, marking a significant jump compared to the previous year.
In December 2025, the value of real estate purchases made in just one month was recorded at 252 million dollars. A new peak was reached in August 2025, with 288 million dollars in purchases on a monthly basis. Throughout the year, the average monthly expenditure by Turkish citizens abroad stood at 223 million dollars.
Looking at the data, interest from Turkey in the international real estate market has been gaining momentum since 2023. Total purchases, which were 1.8 billion dollars on an annual basis in 2023, exceeded 2 billion dollars for the first time in 2024, reaching a new threshold. In 2025, purchases continued to increase, setting a new record.
The lowest annual purchase figures in the Central Bank data were seen in 2019. Experts expect the increasing investment trend to continue without losing momentum in the coming period.
