Unemployment in Turkey fell to 8.5% in October, the lowest level since November 2012
According to TUIK, the narrow-defined unemployment rate fell to 8.5 percent in October. In September, this rate was announced as 9.1 percent.
The Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK) has announced the Labor Force Statistics for October 2023.
According to the results of the Household Labor Force Survey, the number of unemployed persons aged 15 and over decreased by 46 thousand people in September compared to the previous month, reaching 3 million 168 thousand people.
The unemployment rate in September decreased by 0.1 percentage points compared to the previous month, standing at 9.1 percent. This rate was estimated at 7.5 percent for men and 12.3 percent for women.
The rate of idle labor, which consists of time-related underemployment, potential labor force, and the unemployed—also known as broad-defined unemployment—was 21.8 percent in September, a decrease of 1.2 percentage points compared to the previous month.
