Unemployment is rising!

According to the Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK) data for the second quarter of 2025, the number of unemployed people increased by 106 thousand, reaching 3 million 34 thousand. The unemployment rate was 7.0 percent for men and 11.6 percent for women.

Unemployment is rising!

According to the results of the Household Labour Force Survey by TÜİK, the number of unemployed persons aged 15 and over increased by 106 thousand in the second quarter of 2025 compared to the previous quarter, reaching 3 million 34 thousand people.

The unemployment rate increased by 0.3 percentage points to 8.6 percent. The unemployment rate was measured at 7.0 percent for men and 11.6 percent for women.

EMPLOYMENT DECREASED

In the same period, the number of employed persons decreased by 41 thousand to 32 million 435 thousand people.

The employment rate fell by 0.2 percentage points to 48.9 percent. This rate was recorded as 66.1 percent for men and 32.1 percent for women.

LABOUR FORCE INCREASED BUT THE RATE REMAINED STABLE

The labour force increased by 65 thousand in the second quarter of 2025 compared to the previous quarter, rising to 35 million 469 thousand people. However, the labour force participation rate remained unchanged at 53.5 percent.

The labour force participation rate was 71.1 percent for men and 36.3 percent for women.
