Unexpected quiet in Bodrum: Tourism season causes disappointment

Bodrum's famous beaches and public transport vehicles, which are usually packed, have remained unexpectedly empty this summer. Local business owners are complaining about the significant drop in customer numbers and the economic stagnation. Stating that "in the past, you couldn't even drop a pin," the business owners emphasize that this year is different.

Many businesses, including restaurants, markets, entertainment venues, and summer homes, are experiencing a major loss of customers compared to previous years. June, the first month of the season in Bodrum, saw the worst start in recent years. Business owners state that they have experienced a 35 percent loss in revenue compared to last year.

Local business owners express their concerns by saying, "The next 15-20 days are critical. If we cannot recover, our situation will get even worse. We are getting worse every year, and perhaps in three years, there will be no business owners left in Bodrum."
