US December inflation data released

Consumer Price Index data for December in the US has been released. Accordingly, the Consumer Price Index (CPI) recorded an increase of 0.3 percent in December compared to the previous month. The annual increase in CPI was 3.4 percent.

US December inflation data released

US inflation data for December has been released. According to this data, which is closely monitored by global markets, the US Consumer Price Index (CPI) showed an increase of 0.3 percent compared to the previous month. On an annual basis, the CPI reached 3.4 percent.

Expectations were for monthly inflation to increase by 0.2 percent in December, and accordingly, annual inflation was expected to be 3.2 percent. However, according to the released data, monthly inflation came in higher than expected.

Core inflation data increased by 0.3 percent on a monthly basis and reached 3.9 percent on an annual basis. Consumer prices excluding energy and food prices increased by 0.3 percent on a monthly basis and were 3.8 percent on an annual basis. This was evaluated as a result in line with expectations.

In conclusion, while core inflation came in as expected, the CPI data showed an increase above expectations, particularly on a monthly basis.
