Vedat Işıkhan makes statement on additional minimum wage hike!
Responding to a question regarding an interim hike in the minimum wage, Minister of Labor and Social Security Vedat Işıkhan stated, "The increase in January was made taking into account that there would be no increase in July."
Minister of Labor and Social Security Vedat Işıkhan made important statements regarding the agenda during a live broadcast he attended.
Having closed the door on an additional minimum wage hike in recent days, Işıkhan noted that the government does not determine the minimum wage.
Minister Işıkhan said, "The Minimum Wage Determination Commission determines it. As a Ministry, we are a moderator institution that brings workers and employers to the table and ensures negotiations take place. The increase in January was made taking into account that there would be no increase in July. The economy is a matter of balance. We need to observe this. We are concerned with permanent prosperity growth. We are currently exhibiting growth without sacrificing employment. In this process, we, as the Ministry, will continue to maintain our support for our workers, civil servants, and retirees."
