Vedat Işıkhan: We hope to announce the minimum wage within this week
Minister of Labor and Social Security Vedat Işıkhan stated, "Our Minimum Wage Determination Commission will hold its meeting. Hopefully, we plan to announce it as soon as possible."
Minister of Labor and Social Security Vedat Işıkhan answered questions from journalists at the Presidential Complex. In response to a journalist's question regarding when the 3rd meeting on the minimum wage will take place, Minister Işıkhan said, "We have not yet made a decision regarding the meeting. The teams are working. There is a technical analysis involved. Once those analyses are finished, as you know, we have 3 representatives; our public, private, and employer representatives are participating. Hopefully, we desire to announce it within this week."
When asked if there was a specific figure, Minister Işıkhan replied, "There is no figure. I mean, we have nothing to share with you at the moment because that would be unfair to our Minimum Wage Determination Commission. They are working. When the time comes, we will come together as the 3 parties, make the decision, and announce it."
Regarding the payment of a 5,000 lira bonus to working retirees, Işıkhan stated, "As the Ministry, we have prepared our work; as soon as it is published in the Official Gazette, we have made our preparations to act as quickly as possible."
