Vice President Yılmaz gives a date for the 'grey list'
Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz announced that the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) recently visited Turkey to conduct field studies. Yılmaz stated that he expects Turkey to be removed from the grey list next month.
Stating that the meetings went "positively," Yılmaz said that any decision other than removing Turkey from the grey list would be political.
"MTP WILL BE UPDATED IN SEPTEMBER"
Speaking to Reuters, Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz said that the Medium-Term Program (MTP) will be updated in September, and that the updates to be made to economic forecasts are largely positive, primarily regarding the current account deficit and the budget.
STATEMENT ON BUDGET DEFICIT
Yılmaz said that the disinflation program and reform agenda, which have the "full support" of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, will be maintained, and that it is even possible for the budget deficit to fall below 5 percent with the effect of the savings and efficiency package.
"A DECLINE WILL BE SEEN"
Stating that inflation will end the year close to the Central Bank's forecast of 38 percent, Yılmaz emphasized that they are determined to reach inflation below 20 percent next year and single-digit inflation in 2026. Pointing out that a significant decline in inflation will be seen in the summer months due to the steps taken so far, Yılmaz noted that this decline will also positively affect the expectations of citizens.
"IT WILL POSITIVELY REFLECT ON DIRECT INVESTMENTS"
Drawing attention to the 40 billion dollar increase in Central Bank (CBRT) reserves and the rise in foreign investor interest, Yılmaz said he expects the increase in foreign interest to also reflect positively on direct investments in the coming period.
Stating that target country and sectoral studies are being conducted regarding direct investments, Yılmaz also mentioned that President Erdoğan will meet with CEOs of global companies in September.
