War has also shrunk the wealth of billionaires

In the first three months of 2026, the vast majority of the world's leading billionaires experienced a significant erosion of their wealth. According to data reflected in the Bloomberg Billionaires Index, seven of the names in the top 10 of the list experienced a loss of wealth due to volatility and tensions in global markets. The total loss reached 214 billion dollars.

The largest loss was experienced by Bernard Arnault, who operates in the fashion and luxury goods sector. While Arnault's assets decreased by 55.4 billion dollars in just the first three months, he still maintained his place at the top of the list with a net worth of 153 billion dollars.

The winner of the year was Elon Musk, owner of companies such as Tesla and SpaceX. Since the beginning of the year, Musk has added 24.2 billion dollars to his wealth, placing him at the top of the list with a total wealth of 644 billion dollars. He is followed by Larry Page, one of the founders of Google, with assets of 247 billion dollars. However, Page also suffered a loss of 21.9 billion dollars during this period.
