Will there be a tax amnesty in the second half of 2024?

Social Security Institution (SGK) expert Özgür Erdursun claimed on his social media account that an 'amnesty' for tax debts will be issued. Erdursun stated, "I think a restructuring law will be enacted again in the second half of 2024."

In his post, Erdursun shared the following:

"Most recently, Law No. 7440, titled 'Law on the Restructuring of Certain Receivables and Amendments to Certain Laws,' provided a restructuring (commonly referred to as an amnesty, though it is not an actual amnesty; the principal amount of the tax is not erased, only a portion of the late payment interest is waived, and the debt is divided into installments) for tax and insurance premium debts incurred up to December 31, 2022!"

  • A need for restructuring will arise again in 2024. I think a restructuring law will be enacted again in the second half of 2024.
  • The monthly late payment interest on taxes is 3.5%!
  • The debts of those who cannot pay their taxes regularly continue to grow like a snowball.
  • Bank accounts are being blocked.
  • If they own a house or a car, e-seizure procedures are being carried out.
  • The number of business closures continues to increase at a higher rate compared to previous years.
  • The rate of newly opened businesses is falling compared to previous years.
  • Doing business and ensuring the sustainability of an enterprise is becoming more difficult.
