The winners of the 2025 Nobel Prize in Economics were announced at a press conference held on Monday at the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences in Stockholm.
The announcement stated that the prize was awarded to Prof. Dr. Joel Mokyr from Northwestern University, Prof. Dr. Philippe Aghion from the London School of Economics and INSEAD in Paris, and Prof. Dr. Peter Howitt from Brown University. The Academy noted that the three scientists have made significant contributions to economic science through their groundbreaking work aimed at understanding the role of innovation in economic growth.
It was announced that half of the total prize of 11 million kronor (approximately 1.2 million dollars) will be awarded to Mokyr, while the remaining half will be shared between Aghion and Howitt.
