A new era in education: 'Bell-free school' practice begins
The Ministry of National Education is implementing the "bell-free school" practice in the 2025-2026 academic year to increase students' sense of responsibility.
According to the circular issued by Minister of National Education Yusuf Tekin, the new academic year will begin on September 8. This year has been declared the "Year of the Family" by the decision of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. In this context, protecting and strengthening the family structure and ensuring that children spend more time with their families are among the priority goals.
THE YEAR OF THE FAMILY AND NEW PRACTICES IN EDUCATION
According to the circular, events and projects in line with the "Year of the Family" theme will be organized. Student clubs and other educational activities will be planned in accordance with this theme. In the first week of the academic year, awareness training will be conducted under the theme of "Protecting the Green Homeland Against Forest Fires."
In the new term of education, the effective use of school libraries will be encouraged to help students develop reading habits. Furthermore, schools will be kept open in places where the number of students is decreasing, such as village schools. The clean and orderly use of books will be encouraged, and measures will be taken for the return of books at the end of the year within the scope of the Zero Waste Project.
OTHER REGULATIONS IN EDUCATION
The practice of not allowing mobile phones in classrooms will continue in order to protect students from digital addiction. Additionally, plans for graduation events will be made in a way that does not impose a financial burden on parents.
The Ministry of National Education aims for students to develop their own sense of responsibility with the "bell-free school" practice. In cases where a bell sound is necessary, the volume will be adjusted so as not to disturb the environment, and designated bell sounds will be used.
In-school and extracurricular activities will be organized for students to discover and develop their interests in science, culture, art, and sports. Furthermore, Atatürk Week events will be held one week earlier as they coincide with the first mid-term break.
With these new regulations, equality of opportunity in education will be ensured, and the multifaceted development of students will be supported.
