Call from Eğitim-İş to the Ministry of National Education: 'Security measures must be increased for safety of life'
Eğitim-İş Samsun Branch President Onur Gündüz drew attention to the rise in violence against teachers following an armed attack on a teacher at a school in Konya, and called on the Ministry of National Education to increase security measures.
Eğitim-İş (Education and Science Workers' Union) Samsun Branch President Onur Gündüz emphasized that the responsibility for violence against teachers lies not only with the perpetrators but also with the management approach that has neglected education for years. Making a call to the Ministry of National Education, Gündüz said, "Security measures in educational institutions must be increased urgently. We do not want to work in fear for our lives."
Gündüz also reacted to the Ministry of National Education's decision to remove physical education classes for 12th-grade students in science high schools and project schools as of 2025, and to make them elective in Anatolian high schools. Regarding the MESEM (Vocational Training Center) program, Onur Gündüz stated, "The Ministry of National Education has turned into a child labor recruitment agency that pulls children out of school and directs them to workplaces. This practice is costing children their lives, health, and right to education."
