The list of countries sending the most students to the US has been published. India has surpassed China after 15 years. India has become the country sending the most students to the US for higher education.

The "Open Doors 2024" report, prepared by the Institute of International Education (IIE) with the support of the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs of the US Department of State, has been released.

In the report on international student mobility, it was stated that the number of Indian students coming to the US for higher education in the 2023-2024 academic year was 331 thousand 602, while the number of Chinese students was 277 thousand 398.

Accordingly, India, which had remained behind China since the 2008-2009 academic year, surpassed China this year to become the country sending the most students to the US.

The 3rd country sending the most students to the US, which hosts approximately 1 million 127 thousand international students, was South Korea with 43 thousand 149.

In Europe, the United Kingdom showed the highest demand for education in the US with 10 thousand 473 students. The UK was followed by Germany with 9 thousand 230 students and Turkey with 9 thousand 148 students.
