Education suspended in 4 districts of Şanlıurfa
Following heavy rainfall in Şanlıurfa, it has been decided to temporarily suspend education in four districts.
Heavy rainfall, which has intensified at times across Şanlıurfa, has negatively affected daily life. Measures were taken particularly due to flooding and road damage in rural areas, which have made transportation difficult.
In a statement from the Governor's Office, it was announced that it was deemed appropriate to suspend education and training for today in all schools in the rural neighborhoods of the Haliliye and Eyyübiye districts, as well as throughout the entirety of Ceylanpınar and Viranşehir. The statement included the following: "Due to the excessive rainfall affecting some parts of our province, and considering potential transportation issues caused by flooding in our rural neighborhoods and damage to the road network, education and training have been suspended for one day on Thursday, March 26, 2026, in all schools located in the rural neighborhoods of our Haliliye, Eyyübiye, Ceylanpınar, and Viranşehir districts."
According to the latest forecasts from meteorological authorities, rainfall is expected to continue intermittently across the city for some time. Officials have urged citizens to be cautious against the risk of floods and flash floods. The Şanlıurfa Governor's Office announced that further measures may be taken depending on developments.
It was reported that the suspension of education in the Ceylanpınar and Viranşehir districts is limited to only one day, and that new decisions may be made by monitoring weather conditions.
