20 million students head off for summer break

20 million students under the Ministry of National Education (MEB) are preparing for summer vacation as the 2024-2025 academic year comes to an end. The academic year, which began on September 9, 2024, will conclude on June 20, 2025.

The final week of the term will be utilized with "end-of-term activity week" events aimed at increasing student participation in artistic, cultural, athletic, and scientific activities. The "Family and Play" themed events, to be held between June 16-19, offer an important opportunity for students and their families to spend time together.

This year, a series of innovations were implemented within the scope of the Century of Turkey Education Model. The new curriculum began to be applied gradually, starting with preschool, 1st grade of primary school, 5th grade of middle school, and 9th grade of high school.

New textbooks were designed to support students' self-learning through activities, augmented reality applications, and AI-supported content.

VOCATIONAL AND SPORTS MIDDLE SCHOOLS ACCEPTED THEIR FIRST STUDENTS

Vocational and technical education was strengthened with the goal of increasing diversity in education. While vocational middle schools were opened, the country's first sports middle schools also accepted their first students this year.

In addition, school-family cooperation was increased through the "Velivizyon" platform. Furthermore, common exam practices conducted nationwide were expanded and carried out at more grade levels.

The June Period Professional Development Program for teachers was organized this year with the opportunity to participate in the provinces and districts of their choice. Teachers will be able to attend the sessions to be held between June 23-27 at the educational institutions of their preference.

Within the scope of the YKS, high school seniors and graduates will experience exam excitement on June 21-22. Oral exams regarding the recruitment of contract teachers will begin on June 23 and will be held in 5 provinces.

The new academic year will begin on September 8, 2025.
