Will schools close early? Statement from the Ministry of National Education

It was claimed that the Ministry of National Education (MEB) had entered a planning process directly concerning students and parents regarding the 2025 summer vacation, and that schools would close early because the Eid al-Adha holiday begins on Friday, June 6 this year.

The MEB has now made the final statement regarding these discussions and announced that schools will close on June 20, according to the normal calendar.

The Ministry of National Education (MEB) announced that reports claiming the summer vacation would be moved forward are not true, and that schools will end on June 20 as previously announced.

In the statement made by the Ministry, it was noted that a report titled "MEB has started preparations, summer vacation will be moved forward" appeared in some media outlets today. Stating that these reports do not reflect the truth, the statement emphasized that the "2024-2025 Academic Year Calendar" was shared with the public on May 28, 2024, and that educational processes are continuing in line with the announced calendar.

The statement included the following expressions:

"According to the calendar in question, the academic year, which began on September 9, 2024, will end on June 20, as previously announced. Although the relevant '2024-2025 Academic Year Calendar' has been available at 'https://www.meb.gov.tr/2024-2025-egitim-ogretim-yili-takvimi-aciklandi/haber/33888/tr' since the day it was announced to the public, the reports made are either careless or malicious. One should not give credit to such manipulative news that contains baseless claims without being researched at the source or intentionally, occupies the public agenda with false and misleading information, and misleads millions of our students, teachers, and parents."

The news that the Eid al-Adha holiday would begin on June 6 and that schools would close early by combining them with this holiday had created excitement. Many parents and students have now received the answer to this question with the Ministry's statement.
