LGS central exam excitement begins nationwide

The central exam under the LGS, organized for 8th-grade students nationwide, began this morning with high student participation. The number of students who applied for this optional exam was announced as 1 million 22 thousand 658. Students arrived at exam centers early in the morning; candidates who did not apply for the exam will be able to enroll in high schools through the local placement method.

The exam is being held across Turkey in 81 provinces, 920 districts, and a total of 4 thousand 244 schools, in 64 thousand 697 classrooms, under the organization of the Ministry of National Education. Abroad, students are sharing in this great excitement at 11 centers and 40 exam halls in 8 countries.

Various accommodations have also been provided for students with special needs. Students taking the exam at home or in the hospital due to disabilities or health conditions have been granted extra time and assigned reader-encoder teachers to assist them. Necessary arrangements were made especially for visually impaired candidates and students who need to take the exam under different conditions due to health reasons.

The exam consists of a total of 90 multiple-choice questions and is administered in two separate sessions. In the verbal session, 50 questions are asked from the subjects of Turkish, History of the Turkish Revolution and Kemalism, Religious Culture and Moral Knowledge, and Foreign Language, with students given 75 minutes. In the numerical session that follows, 80 minutes are given for 40 questions from Mathematics and Science.

This year, for the first time, AI-supported camera systems have been introduced to increase exam security. With this system installed at building entrances and points where exam documents are delivered, cameras have also been placed in some classrooms. In this way, it is aimed to monitor the exam process more strictly.

Another innovation is the distribution of nutrition packages, implemented to reduce students' exam stress. Students who requested it during the application process by their parents are being offered nutrition packages containing oat bars with dried fruit, walnuts, raisins, and water during the break between the two sessions. 91 percent of the students participating in the exam, which is the vast majority, will be able to benefit from this practice. Candidates who do not receive a nutrition package are only given water and take the exam in different classrooms.

Exam results are expected to be announced on July 10 via the official website of the Ministry of National Education. On the same day, the Secondary Education Transition Preference and Placement Guide, which will guide high school choices, will also be presented to the public.
