Minister Tekin issues warning regarding supplementary books: They are not approved!

Continuing his engagements in Ankara, Minister of National Education Yusuf Tekin, who attended the introductory meeting of the AI-supported MEBİ platform, pointed out that students are resorting to supplementary resources other than the ministry's books and materials.

THOSE BOOKS MAY MISLEAD YOU DURING THE PROCESS

Expressing that supplementary resources are problematic from their perspective, Tekin said the following:

“Look, I am underlining this. None of these supplementary resources have been approved by the Ministry of National Education. In other words, our Board of Education and Discipline has not reviewed any of them. Therefore, you might think that these books have been examined by the Ministry of National Education and will contribute to your exam preparation process. We have not approved any of them. Now, those books may mislead you during the process.

Secondly, the teachers who teach your classes are by no means comparable to other teachers you go to for 'under-the-counter' courses outside. Our teachers in our schools will give you the most accurate information on this subject. The Ministry of National Education conducts the Transition to High Schools Exam (LGS) directly. We also work with ÖSYM for university placement exams. Therefore, we constantly request from ÖSYM the equivalents of the questions that will be asked to you within our curriculum. All the questions ÖSYM asks you are entirely within our curriculum.”

EMPHASIS ON BEING THE ONLY COUNTRY

Stating that Turkey is the only country in the world with smart boards in all its classrooms, Minister Tekin noted that they are working to bring education and training to a level of content and physical infrastructure that can compete with the world's most developed countries, both physically and in terms of content. Minister Tekin concluded his words as follows:

“In this sense, the Turkey Century Education Model that our 9th-grade students are encountering this year is the product of exactly such an effort. We have done what the countries that are cited as examples in education, the countries that are said to be good in education, are doing on screens and televisions. This is one dimension of this event. Twenty years ago, we did not even have one school like the ones you are in now. Currently, all our schools have become perfect in terms of physical structure in this sense. We did not find these sufficient either. We are improving our infrastructure with technology; currently, almost all of our schools, including those in the most remote corners, have gained internet infrastructure. We have placed what we call interactive transfer boards, which you mostly call 'smart boards', in all classrooms. According to United Nations (UN) reports, we are currently the only country in the world that has 'smart boards' in all its classrooms.”
