New era in schools: New rules introduced for parents and students

Following the school attacks in Şanlıurfa and Kahramanmaraş, the Ministry of Interior has expanded security measures in educational institutions. While police teams continue to serve at schools, school administrations announced the new decisions taken over the weekend to parents and students via social media and WhatsApp groups.

CLOTHING AND ENTRY RULES TIGHTENED

It has been reported that in many schools, students will only be allowed to enter wearing their school uniforms. To prevent unsupervised activity around the school, it was announced that parents will not be allowed into the schoolyard, especially during morning hours.

During class hours, no one other than teachers, students, and staff will be allowed to enter the school building. It was stated that parents will only be able to enter the school by appointment and by presenting identification.

ITEM AND BAG INSPECTIONS

A new practice has been initiated regarding forgotten items. Instead of leaving students' belongings directly in the classroom, parents will deliver them to the security point, and these items will be delivered to the students by teachers.

Furthermore, attention was drawn to bag checks, and it was emphasized that no items other than educational materials should be brought to school. Parents were asked to check their children's bags regularly.

RESTRICTIONS ON TECHNOLOGICAL DEVICES

Under the new regulations, bringing devices such as mobile phones, smartwatches, and tablets to school has been banned in many schools.

NEW ARRANGEMENTS FOR DISMISSAL TIMES

New rules will also be applied at school dismissal times. Parents will pick up their students in designated areas after the bell rings. Parents who have picked up their students will not be allowed to wait in the schoolyard.

It was reminded that in cases where students need to be picked up early, procedures will only be carried out with the knowledge of the school administration, and that informing the teacher in advance is mandatory for hospital appointments.
