Preparation for comprehensive changes in schools: Erdoğan gave the instruction, Yusuf Tekin announced

Minister of National Education Yusuf Tekin announced that work is underway on new regulations regarding security and educational processes in schools. Once the preparations are completed, the details are expected to be shared with the public shortly.

INSTRUCTION FROM ERDOĞAN

Stating that they are acting in line with the instructions of AKP Chairman and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, Minister Tekin expressed that steps are being taken to address the concerns of parents and students. Tekin said, “Our children and parents can rest assured that their children will continue their education in schools. Our President has given the necessary instructions.”

Emphasizing that the ongoing work is being handled comprehensively, Tekin said that the details regarding the regulations will be shared very soon. He noted that the announcement is planned to be made at a widely attended press conference on Friday or Monday.

CURRENT PRACTICES AND NEW STEPS TO BE ANNOUNCED TOGETHER

The Ministry aims to announce both the practices currently in force and the measures to be introduced in the new period together in the upcoming briefing. Tekin used the expressions, “I wish our nation a speedy recovery. I hope we do not encounter such incidents again.”

NEW SECURITY ERA IN SCHOOLS

Security regulations in schools will not be limited to technical systems; entry-exit procedures will also be reorganized. Within the scope of the new practices;

  • Visitor entries without an appointment will be prohibited.
  • Visitors will undergo security checks.
  • Students are prohibited from bringing electronic devices such as mobile phones, smartwatches, and tablets to school.
  • Students will not be allowed to come to school in any clothing other than the school uniform.
  • Unauthorized gatherings around the school will not be permitted.
  • Turnstile access systems will be expanded.
  • Checks with handheld detectors will be increased.

There will be zero tolerance for peer bullying. Notification and guidance procedures will be initiated for students who engage in psychological, physical, or verbal violence. Reports will be made to the necessary units.

SPECIAL PRACTICES FOR HIGH-RISK SCHOOLS

Stricter measures will be implemented in schools evaluated as having high security risks. In this context, the presence of law enforcement officers around schools will be increased, and police teams will be present during entry and exit hours. Furthermore, it is planned to increase GBT (General Information Gathering) checks for suspicious individuals.

ALL SCHOOLS TO BE MONITORED FROM A SINGLE CENTER

With the new regulation, it is aimed to provide schools across Turkey with a common security infrastructure. Minister Tekin announced that all schools will be integrated into the KGYS (City Security Management System) and monitored continuously.
