Üsküdar University Rector Prof. Dr. Nevzat Tarhan has come to the fore with a post he shared on his social media account.
Tarhan's message, in which he used the phrases, "What is private is safe; those who expose themselves are under threat and cannot find peace. Let us look at crime and violence incidents from this perspective as well," became a trending topic on social media in a short time.

Tarhan's post was interpreted as containing a message specifically directed at women, leading to numerous reactions.
Following the intense criticism, Prof. Dr. Nevzat Tarhan issued a new statement. Stating that his post was misunderstood, Tarhan used the following expressions:
"I would like to express that I am very saddened that this post, which I made to draw attention to the fact that not everything should be shared openly on social media, was interpreted in a way that exceeded its purpose."
